HR Operations Manager

Short term contract for an experienced HR Operations Manager - Lead a diverse team - Immediate start

Lead a fantastic HR Operations team Immediate start - 3 month contract Salary circa $220K

The Opportunity

This complex, people-focused services organisation, known for its genuine commitment to employee wellbeing and excellent work-life balance, and its supportive culture, is now seeking an experienced HR Operations Manager to step in and take the reins of a diverse and high-impact team for a 3-month contract.

About the Role

Reporting to a Senior People & Culture leader, this role is responsible for the effective delivery of core HR operational services including the provision of HR advice, payroll, HR systems and onboarding while also championing process improvement and driving team capability.

You’ll lead a close-knit team, including payroll, onboarding, and HR consultants. With a large and varied workforce, this is a fast-paced environment that will benefit from someone who can think strategically, lead compassionately, and roll up their sleeves when needed.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Leading the HR Operations and payroll function, acting as a point of escalation for a range of queries
  • Managing and developing a team of HR consultants and onboarding specialists
  • Overseeing core systems and processes, including Dayforce and other HR systems
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline and improve systems and workflows
  • Partnering with the broader P&C function to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Playing a key role in projects such as systems optimisation and workforce integration
About You:

You’ll bring a mix of HR operations and payroll leadership, with a strong understanding of enterprise agreements, and ideally exposure to shift-based or blue-collar workforces. You’re systems-savvy, solutions-focused, and thrive on bringing clarity and efficiency to complex environments.

You’ll also have:
  • Proven experience managing HR and payroll teams or functions, ideally in complex or unionised environments
  • Strong understanding of HRIS and systems, experience with Dayforce is desirable
  • A continuous improvement mindset
  • Solid working knowledge of HR operations and legislation
  • Great communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
